Chiptune music is relatively unknown in North America, and most of the chiptune artists are European, Australian or Japanese. Due to Myspace, chiptune artists have gained some notoriety. There has however been a small bundle of artists coming out of the Musical Greeting Cards United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Sweden has ever since year 1980 been prominent in the chiptune scene, as well as the demo scene, video spectator and generally in the musical crowd-pleaser culture. Possibly, this is because of an antecedent high gauge of computerization and music that attracted a lot of attention. In 2001, Johan Kotlinski (Role Model) come onstage the rock-and-roll program Infant Stable DJ for Gameboy, which quickly gained a lot of scrutiny in Europe and the United States.
